Business
Bausch Health Companies Inc. operates as a global, diversified specialty pharmaceutical and medical device firm, dedicated to developing, manufacturing, and bringing to market a wide array of pharmaceutical, medical device, and over-the-counter offerings. The company’s core focus spans several key therapeutic areas, notably gastroenterology, hepatology, neurology, dermatology, dentistry, and medical aesthetics. Through its subsidiaries, Bausch Health conducts business across distinct operational segments, including Salix for U.S. gastrointestinal pharmaceuticals, Solta Medical for innovative medical aesthetic devices, and an International segment managing a diverse portfolio of branded and generic pharmaceutical products, OTC items, and medical devices across regions like Canada, Europe, Asia, Australia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. The Diversified Products segment further contributes with pharmaceutical offerings in areas such as neurology and other therapeutic classes, along with generic and dentistry products within the United States. In a significant strategic move, Bausch Health successfully completed the initial public offering of its eye health business, Bausch + Lomb, in May 2022, establishing it as a separately traded public entity. Bausch Health continues to hold a majority ownership interest in Bausch + Lomb, an independent company focused on vision care, surgical, and ophthalmic pharmaceutical products. Recent corporate developments include the acquisition of DURECT Corporation in September 2025, enhancing its hepatology pipeline with larsucosterol. The company, which was formerly known as Valeant Pharmaceuticals International, Inc., adopted the name Bausch Health Companies Inc. in July 2018 and maintains its global corporate headquarters in Laval, Quebec, Canada.
