Business
The Gorman-Rupp Company designs, manufactures, and sells pumps and pump systems for water, wastewater, construction, dewatering, industrial, petroleum, original equipment manufacturer, agriculture, fire suppression, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, military, and other liquid-handling applications; core products include self-priming centrifugal pumps, standard centrifugal pumps, magnetic drive centrifugal pumps, axial and mixed flow pumps, vertical turbine line shaft pumps, submersible pumps, high-pressure booster pumps, rotary gear pumps, rotary vein pumps, diaphragm pumps, bellows pumps, and oscillating pumps, complemented by related equipment such as pump and motor controls, packaged lift stations, and pressure booster stations. Founded in 1933 and headquartered in Mansfield, Ohio, the company operates through 10 subsidiaries and 18 global locations, including facilities in the United States, Canada, Ireland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and South Africa, marketing its products to over 130 countries via a network of distributors, manufacturers' representatives, third-party catalogs, direct sales, retailers, and e-commerce. It serves diverse markets such as municipal water and wastewater, flood control, construction and dewatering, agriculture and irrigation, industrial chemicals and HVAC, refined petroleum, OEM and fabricated components, and repair parts, with revenue segments comprising water and water-related applications (58%), non-water applications (29%), and repair parts (13%). In recent developments, the company completed a $525 million acquisition of Fill-Rite and Sotera from Tuthill Corporation in June 2022, adding rugged liquid transfer pumps, mechanical and digital meters, hoses, nozzles, and accessories to its portfolio and expanding into fluid transfer solutions; it refinanced its debt in May 2024 by upsizing and extending its senior term loan to $370 million, renewing its $100 million revolving credit facility, issuing $30 million in senior secured notes, and retiring a $90 million subordinated facility, which reduced interest expense and staggered maturities. During the third quarter of 2025, Gorman-Rupp optimized its National Pump Company footprint by consolidating from six to three facilities, transitioning one to Patterson Pump Company for fire, municipal, and HVAC growth, incurring $3.0 million in one-time costs but expecting $2.0-$2.5 million in annual savings; it also reported net sales of $659.7 million for fiscal 2024, adjusted EBITDA of $124.6 million, and reduced total debt by $45 million year-to-date through September 2025 amid strong incoming orders up 10.9%. The company increased its quarterly dividend for the 52nd consecutive year in 2024 and declared its 300th consecutive quarterly dividend in January 2025, maintaining a strong dividend track record while pursuing growth in data centers, infrastructure-related water projects, and international markets.
