Business
Alimentation Couche-Tard Inc. operates as one of the world's largest independent operators of convenience stores and fuel stations, offering a broad range of products including road transportation fuel, tobacco products, beer and wine, beverages, chilled aerated drinks, fresh food, candy and snacks, coffee, dairy items, fresh fruits and vegetables, grocery items, and lubricants; the company also provides quick-service restaurant options, car washes, lottery tickets, money orders, ATMs, calling cards, and gift cards at many locations. It conducts its business primarily through company-owned stores, franchises, and dealer networks under leading brands such as Circle K (its flagship international brand), Couche-Tard (in Quebec), Holiday Stationstores (in the U.S. Northern Tier), Ingo (unmanned stations in Sweden and Denmark), Provi-Soir, 7 Jours, and affiliated banners including Mac's, Winks, and GetGo. Founded in 1980 and headquartered in Laval, Quebec, Canada, Alimentation Couche-Tard maintains an extensive global footprint with approximately 16,800 stores across 31 countries and territories, including over 7,100 in the United States, 2,100 in Canada, and 5,300 in Europe and other regions, employing around 149,000 people worldwide and serving motorists, urban consumers, and busy professionals. Among its latest major developments, the company completes the acquisition of 270 GetGo Café + Market stores from Giant Eagle in 2025, alongside 20 Hutch's convenience stores and one land bank in Oklahoma and Kansas expected to close in early 2025; it also finalizes its multi-billion euro purchase of TotalEnergies' European retail assets (over 2,100 sites across Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg) by late 2025 following European Commission approval, integrates recent buys like 112 MAPCO Express sites from COPEC in the U.S. Southeast, and advances its Circle K Venture Fund with investments in delivery platforms Food Rocket and Farmstead plus technologies from Pensa Systems and Jackpocket to enhance customer experience and operational efficiency.
