Business
Ignitis Grupe AB is an integrated renewable energy and multi-utility holding company engaged in green energy generation, electricity and natural gas distribution, retail and commercial energy supply, flexible power generation, and electric mobility infrastructure. Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania, the company serves residential households, commercial enterprises, industrial clients, and wholesale energy markets across Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, and Finland. The company operates through four core business segments: Green Generation, Networks, Customers & Solutions, and Flexible Generation. The Green Generation segment, primarily operated through subsidiary Ignitis Renewables UAB, develops, constructs, and operates onshore wind farms; utility-scale solar photovoltaic installations; hydroelectric power facilities, including the Kruonis Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Plant and the Kaunas Algirdas Brazauskas Hydroelectric Power Plant; and biomass and municipal waste-to-energy combined heat and power plants, including the Vilnius Combined Heat and Power Plant and the Kaunas Combined Heat and Power Plant. The Networks segment, managed through subsidiary AB Energijos Skirstymo Operatorius (ESO), provides regulated electricity distribution; natural gas distribution pipeline operations; smart grid infrastructure maintenance; automated meter reading and smart meter deployment; and power connection services across Lithuania. The Customers & Solutions segment, operating through Ignitis UAB and regional subsidiaries including Ignitis Polska Sp. z o.o., Ignitis Latvija SIA, and Ignitis Eesti OU, delivers retail and wholesale electricity supply; retail natural gas supply; turnkey rooftop solar photovoltaic systems; commercial battery energy storage systems; heat pump installations; energy efficiency consulting; and public and private electric vehicle charging network operations under the Ignitis ON brand. The Flexible Generation segment, managed by Ignitis Gamyba AB at the Elektrenai Complex, provides system balancing services; tertiary active power reserves; isolated grid operation and frequency restoration services; and strategic gas-fired thermal power generation to secure transmission system stability. In recent developments, Ignitis Grupe AB has accelerated its strategic transition toward decarbonization with a target to achieve 4 to 5 gigawatts of installed green generation capacity by 2030, highlighted by its strategic joint venture with Ocean Winds to develop Lithuania's first 700-megawatt offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea; the development and construction of the 110-megawatt fifth unit expansion at the Kruonis Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Plant; the commercial commissioning of the high-efficiency biomass generation unit at the Vilnius Combined Heat and Power Plant; the rapid expansion of the Ignitis ON electric vehicle charging network across the Baltic states; the large-scale installation of smart electricity meters across Lithuanian distribution networks; and multi-million-euro green bond issuances to fund green generation projects, distribution network resilience, and infrastructure preparations for the Baltic power grid's synchronous interconnection with Continental Europe.
