Business
HCI Group, Inc. (NYSE: HCI) is a holding company that, through its subsidiaries, provides property and casualty insurance products and services primarily in the United States. The company offers homeowners insurance, including standard single-family homeowners policies, mobile homeowners and manufactured housing policies, and flood insurance; condominium unit owner coverages; and rental property insurance to owners of single-family homes and condominium unit owners who rent their property on a short-term basis. HCI operates through key subsidiaries such as Greenleaf Services, Inc., which manages call center services for homeowners insurance; Clipper Underwriting Services, Inc., providing policy administration and other services; and HCI Logistics, LLC, handling mail and print services. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in Tampa, Florida, HCI Group focuses on the property insurance segment, targeting residential property owners in states including Florida, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, and others through brands like TypTap Insurance Company and Greenleaf Insurance Company. In recent developments, HCI Group completed the acquisition of certain insurance assets from Frontline Insurance in late 2024, expanding its policy base and market presence in Florida's property insurance market. The company also launched enhancements to its TypTap digital insurance platform in 2025, introducing AI-driven underwriting tools and expanded coverage options for high-risk coastal properties. Additionally, HCI entered a strategic reinsurance partnership with Swiss Re in mid-2025 to bolster catastrophe coverage capacity amid rising climate-related claims. These moves reflect HCI's ongoing expansion in technology-enabled insurance distribution and risk management services across the Southeast U.S. and beyond.
