(Nasdaq:HMST) operates as a diversified financial services holding company principally engaged in real estate lending, mortgage banking, commercial banking, and consumer/retail banking, serving consumers, small- and medium-sized businesses, real estate investors, and professional firms primarily in the Western United States and Hawaii. Founded in 1921 and headquartered in Seattle, Washington, the company, through its principal subsidiary HomeStreet Bank, offers a broad range of deposit products including personal and business checking accounts, savings accounts, interest-bearing negotiable order of withdrawal accounts, money market accounts, and time certificates of deposit; lending products such as commercial business loans, single-family residential mortgages, consumer loans, commercial real estate loans, multifamily loans, residential and commercial construction loans, and SBA loans; mortgage loan origination and sale activities; credit cards; insurance products; treasury management services; private banking; investment services; trust services; and retirement planning solutions, delivered through approximately 56 full-service branches in Washington, Oregon, Northern and Southern California, and Hawaii, as well as loan production offices, ATMs, online, mobile, and telephone banking channels. In March 2025, HomeStreet announced a strategic merger with Mechanics Bank, under which HomeStreet will merge into the Walnut Creek, California-based Mechanics Bank in a transaction valuing HomeStreet at approximately $300 million, with the deal receiving regulatory approvals in August 2025 and expected to close around September 2, 2025 pending shareholder approval, following the termination of a prior merger agreement with FirstSun Capital Bancorp in late 2024; the transaction will expand the combined entity's West Coast footprint to 168 branches and $23 billion in assets, with HomeStreet shareholders owning about 8.3% of the pro forma company.
