Invesco Mortgage Capital Inc. (NYSE: IVR) operates as a real estate investment trust primarily focused on investing in, financing, and managing mortgage-backed securities and other mortgage-related assets in the United States. The company invests in residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) and commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS) guaranteed by U.S. government agencies or federally chartered corporations such as Ginnie Mae, Fannie Mae, and Freddie Mac; non-agency RMBS and CMBS; U.S. Treasury securities; real estate-related financing arrangements; to-be-announced forward contracts to purchase RMBS; and commercial mortgage loans. It is externally managed and advised by Invesco Advisers, Inc., a subsidiary of Invesco Ltd., and has elected REIT status, distributing at least 90% of taxable income to stockholders to avoid federal corporate income taxes. Founded in 2008 and headquartered at 1331 Spring Street N.W., Suite 2500, Atlanta, Georgia 30309, Invesco Mortgage Capital maintains a portfolio predominantly allocated to Agency RMBS (approximately 85%) and Agency CMBS (approximately 15%), targeting attractive risk-adjusted returns through dividends and capital appreciation for its investors. Recent strategic developments include the redemption of Series B Preferred Stock in December 2024 funded by lower-cost repurchase agreements, which improved the capital structure, reduced the cost of capital, and increased the debt-to-equity ratio to 6.7x from 6.1x; enhanced allocations to U.S. Treasury futures for earnings stability; and a partnership with Barings to launch the Invesco Dynamic Credit Opportunity Fund, a closed-end interval fund for private credit investments backed by $650 million from MassMutual including $150 million seed capital, expanding offerings into private markets amid rising demand for income-oriented solutions.
