Business
Cape Industries Ltd. is a South Korea-based manufacturing and financial services company primarily engaged in the development, production, and distribution of critical marine propulsion engine components, with a specialized focus on cylinder liners for large-scale marine diesel and gas engines. Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Yangsan, Gyeongsangnam-do, South Korea, the company operates an integrated manufacturing system encompassing large-scale alloy casting, precision machining, specialized heat treatment, and surface finishing. The company operates through two core business segments: Marine Engine Parts and Financial Investment Services. The Marine Engine Parts segment manufactures and supplies cylinder liners for newbuild marine engines (OEM) and the global aftermarket (A/S) for commercial vessels, including container ships, ultra-large crude carriers, bulk carriers, and liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers; high-performance cylinder liners engineered for two-stroke and four-stroke low-speed and medium-speed engines licensed by international designers such as MAN Energy Solutions and WinGD; advanced wear-resistant and anti-corrosive cylinder liners designed for eco-friendly dual-fuel engines operating on alternative fuels including LNG, methanol, and ammonia; and related heavy machinery casting components and maintenance services. The Financial Investment Services segment, operated through subsidiaries including Cape Investment & Securities Co., Ltd., provides institutional and retail brokerage; investment banking (IB); structured finance and project financing (PF); corporate advisory; trading; and principal investment services. In recent developments, Cape Industries Ltd. has expanded its production capacity and technical capabilities to accelerate the commercialization of specialized cylinder liners for next-generation methanol- and ammonia-fueled dual-fuel propulsion engines, directly addressing tightening International Maritime Organization (IMO) carbon emissions standards. The company has fortified long-term supply relationships with major domestic and international marine engine builders, including HD Hyundai Heavy Industries, Hanwha Engine, and HD Hyundai Marine Engine, benefiting from sustained order growth across the commercial shipbuilding cycle. Additionally, the company continues to optimize its dual-track business structure, balancing high-margin marine engineering manufacturing with diversified revenue streams from its financial investment subsidiaries.
