Business
U.I. Display Co., Ltd. (also known as UID Co., Ltd.) is a South Korea-based industrial technology and materials manufacturing company primarily engaged in the development, processing, and production of flat panel display (FPD) components, specialized optical glass, functional film laminations, and energy storage enclosures. Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Cheongju-si, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea, the company serves original equipment manufacturers and panel makers across the consumer electronics, automotive, telecommunications, commercial display, and renewable energy sectors. The company organizes its operations across specialized business divisions and subsidiaries, offering a systematic portfolio of products and services that includes: Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) coated glass designed for capacitive touch screen panels (TSPs), mobile handsets, tablet computers, portable gaming consoles, and automotive navigation systems; transparent conductive oxide (TCO) coated glass and low-emissivity (Low-E) optical coatings for solar cell applications and architectural glass; display materials (DM) and cover glass solutions, encompassing chemical strengthening, optical bonding, surface texturing, and functional film lamination featuring anti-glare, anti-reflective, and anti-fingerprint coatings for automotive digital cockpits, smart devices, interactive electronic whiteboards, and large-format commercial digital signage; chemical wet-etching and precision glass-slimming services for ultra-thin liquid crystal display (LCD) and organic light-emitting diode (OLED) substrates, operated alongside its consolidated subsidiary GD Co., Ltd.; and customized, containerized enclosures and structural integration solutions for battery energy storage systems (ESS). Geographically, the company maintains manufacturing and engineering facilities in South Korea and distributes its components to domestic electronics manufacturers as well as export markets across East Asia and North America. In recent strategic developments, U.I. Display executed a significant operational expansion by acquiring BSS Co., Ltd. in September 2025, an engineering specialist in energy storage system enclosures, enabling the company to diversify beyond traditional display panel manufacturing into clean energy storage solutions and industrial battery infrastructure. Concurrently, the company has restructured its display division to scale high-value product lines, expanding large-area glass lamination capacity to satisfy growing demand for digital signage and educational electronic whiteboards, increasing supply of automotive-grade cover glass for electric vehicles, and exploring lightweight composite materials to support new mobility applications alongside real estate management operations conducted through its subsidiary Songdo Anipark Co., Ltd.
