- Bio Solution Co., Ltd. is a South Korea-based biotechnology company that develops, manufactures, and commercializes cell-based regenerative therapeutics, three-dimensional human tissue models for animal-alternative testing, and bio-active raw materials. Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, the company serves the medical, pharmaceutical, chemical, and personal care industries across domestic and international markets.
The company operates across three primary business divisions: Cell Therapy, Tissue Models and Contract Testing Services, and Bio-Cosmetics. Its commercial product and service portfolio comprises autologous and allogeneic cell therapeutics, including KeraHeal, an autologous spray-type keratinocyte therapy for severe burns; KeraHeal-Allo, an allogeneic hydrogel-type keratinocyte sheet therapy for deep second-degree burn wound healing; and CartiLife, an autologous bead-type chondrocyte therapy developed for knee cartilage defect repair and regeneration. In tissue modeling, Bio Solution manufactures reconstructed three-dimensional human tissue models listed under OECD Test Guidelines, including KeraSkin epidermal models, KeraSkin-FT full-thickness skin models, KeraSkin-M pigmented models, and KeraCornea corneal epithelial models, while offering contract research organization (CRO) in vitro safety and efficacy testing services for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and chemical evaluations. Its cosmetics division manufactures and supplies active biological ingredients, including stem cell conditioned media, peptide complexes, microbiome-derived materials, and plant-derived stem cell extracts. The company is also advancing a late-stage clinical research pipeline, featuring CartiLoiD, an allogeneic cartilage spheroid therapy undergoing clinical development in Australia, and SperoQure, an injectable joint therapeutic candidate.
In recent corporate and strategic developments, Bio Solution completed the acquisition of a controlling stake in South Korean gene therapy developer Helixmith Co., Ltd. through a KRW 36.5 billion equity investment, becoming its largest shareholder to combine cell and gene therapy technologies, optimize clinical pipelines, and scale contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) services using Helixmith's Magok manufacturing infrastructure. In addition, the company expanded the international reach of CartiLife by establishing a clinical distribution partnership with Boao International Hospital in China's Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone to initiate patient treatment, alongside advancing regulatory and clinical pathways in the United States and other global territories.
