- Asia Pacific Satellite Inc. is a South Korea-based aerospace and telecommunications company that specializes in the design, development, manufacturing, and supply of satellite communication devices and aerospace system components. Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Seoul, South Korea, the company operates primarily through two core business divisions: Satellite Communications and Satellite Systems. The Satellite Communications division develops and manufactures handheld satellite mobile phones, dual-mode satellite-cellular smartphones, and maritime communication terminals; Machine-to-Machine (M2M) and Internet of Things (IoT) satellite modules; broadband data modems; and tactical military communication systems, including Link-K data link modems and TETRA communication equipment. The Satellite Systems division designs and produces space-grade standard on-board computers (OBCs) for low Earth orbit and deep-space missions; high-speed solid-state data recorders (SSRs) and payload data processing units; microsatellite avionics; satellite bus subsystems; and Electrical and Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE/MGSE). In addition, the company provides satellite assembly, integration, and testing (AIT) engineering services, as well as space payload integration support. Asia Pacific Satellite Inc. serves commercial satellite network operators, defense contractors, and government space agencies across the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, and global export markets, serving as a primary terminal development and manufacturing partner for UAE-based Thuraya Telecommunications Company, while collaborating extensively with the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), the Agency for Defense Development (ADD), Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI), and Hanwha Systems on strategic programs, including the Korea Positioning System (KPS), the CAS500 satellite series, and defense reconnaissance satellite projects. In June 2024, space ground station and data analytics provider CONTEC Co., Ltd. acquired a controlling equity stake in Asia Pacific Satellite Inc. to vertically integrate upstream satellite bus and terminal manufacturing with downstream space data services. In March 2026, the company entered into a contract with Hanwha Systems to provide space-qualified on-board computers and electrical ground support equipment for the Ultra-High-Resolution (UHR) small Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) test satellite development program.
