Business
RAONTECH, Inc. is a South Korea-based fabless semiconductor company that specializes in the design, development, and commercialization of ultra-high-resolution microdisplay solutions and companion controller system-on-chip (SoC) semiconductors for augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (XR), and spatial computing applications. Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, the company operates primarily within the semiconductor and optoelectronics industries, providing proprietary silicon backplane and display driver integrated circuit (IC) technologies. The company's core product and service portfolio includes Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCoS) microdisplay panels and optical engine modules; Micro-OLED (OLED-on-Silicon or OLEDoS) driver ICs and silicon backplanes for high-contrast virtual reality and mixed reality headsets; Micro-LED (MicroLED) backplane semiconductors and driver ICs engineered for ultra-compact, high-luminance smart glasses; multi-display controller SoCs integrating video bridging, optical distortion correction, color management, and low-latency image processing algorithms; and complete optical evaluation modules, development kits, and turnkey reference designs for optical hardware integration. RAONTECH serves global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and original design manufacturers (ODMs) across consumer electronics, automotive, industrial, and medical sectors, with applications spanning AI smart glasses, head-mounted displays, electronic viewfinders, automotive augmented reality head-up displays (AR-HUDs), pico projectors, holographic projection systems, and precision medical visualization instruments. Geographically, RAONTECH operates its primary research and development facilities in South Korea and distributes its products across international markets, including North America, Europe, China, Japan, Taiwan, and other Asia-Pacific territories through direct commercial engagements and regional distribution channels. In recent corporate developments, RAONTECH completed its public listing on the KOSDAQ market of the Korea Exchange (KRX: 418420) through a merger with Daishin Balance No. 11 Special Purpose Acquisition Co. Within the last two years, the company has expanded its commercial offerings through the rollout of advanced ultra-low-power MicroLED and MicroOLED backplane driver chipsets optimized for next-generation generative AI smart glasses and spatial computing hardware. Furthermore, RAONTECH has broadened its strategic alliances and design-in partnerships with global technology leaders and automotive tier-one manufacturers to supply microdisplay optical engines for AR-HUDs and smart eyewear, while scaling its foundry partnerships and wafer-level packaging processes to support volume manufacturing for global commercial deployment.
