Business
Legrand S.A. is a global specialist in electrical and digital building infrastructures, headquartered in Limoges, France, and founded in 1904. The company designs, manufactures, and sells a comprehensive range of products and systems for electrical installations across residential, commercial, and industrial markets. Its core offerings include electrical wiring devices; cable management systems; energy distribution; industrial automation and control equipment; datacenter infrastructure solutions such as racks, power distribution units, and busbars; smart building and home automation products; lighting controls; and connected digital solutions for energy efficiency and building management. Legrand serves customers worldwide, with significant operations in Europe, North America, and emerging markets. In recent years, Legrand has accelerated growth through strategic acquisitions and product innovations focused on the energy and digital transition. In 2024–2025, it acquired multiple companies specializing in datacenter infrastructure, power distribution, and technical services, including Netrack (India), Davenham (Ireland), Vass (Australia), UPSistemas (Colombia), and most recently Avtron Power Solutions (USA), a global leader in load banks, enhancing its portfolio particularly in critical datacenter "grey room" solutions, microgrids, and healthcare verticals. The group has increased its focus on smart and connected products, exemplified by the 2024 launch of Matter-enabled smart lighting devices developed in collaboration with Amazon’s Alexa Connect Kit, enabling seamless integration with major smart home ecosystems. Legrand operates in an industry with an addressable market of approximately €130 billion and employs nearly 38,000 people globally. The company maintains a strong commitment to innovation, investing around 4.5% of sales in R&D, and pursues a strategic roadmap through 2030 aimed at accelerating growth in traditional electrical products and expanding in markets supporting energy sustainability and digital transformation. Legrand reported sales exceeding €8.6 billion in 2024, achieved an adjusted operating margin of around 20.5%, and confirmed sales growth targets of 10-12% for 2025 excluding currency effects, supported by its active acquisition strategy and new product launches in both energy and digital transition segments. CEO Benoît Coquart highlights continued strong momentum in datacenters and energy transition markets as key drivers of the group’s growth and innovation efforts.
