Business
Frontier Lithium Inc is a Canadian junior mining company specializing in the exploration, development, and production of lithium concentrates and battery-quality lithium salts primarily for the electric vehicle (EV) and battery supply chains in North America. The company operates the PAK Lithium Project, located in northwestern Ontario's Canadian Shield, which holds one of the highest-grade, large-tonnage hard-rock lithium resources in North America with rare low-iron spodumene as the primary mineral. Frontier’s product offerings include premium technical lithium concentrates used in glass and ceramics manufacturing and chemical-grade lithium concentrates for lithium battery chemical production. The company is advancing a fully integrated lithium ecosystem including mining, milling, and a lithium conversion/refining facility aimed at producing approximately 20,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide salts annually to support North American EV battery manufacturing. Founded in 2014 and headquartered in Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Frontier Lithium targets becoming a major supplier meeting about 3% of the world’s lithium demand from Ontario’s Electric Avenue by 2025. The company’s strategic operations include a joint venture partnership with Mitsubishi Corporation, which holds a 7.5% interest in the PAK Lithium Project with an option to increase to 25% following a definitive feasibility study. Frontier is currently progressing two definitive feasibility studies: a mine and mill DFS completed in 2025 reporting a project net present value of CAD 932 million, and a separate DFS for a downstream lithium conversion facility located in Thunder Bay, Ontario, with a leading engineering firm Fluor Canada Ltd. engaged for the project. Recent major company developments include securing up to CAD 6.1 million in conditional federal funding under the Critical Minerals Infrastructure Fund to improve infrastructure supporting Indigenous engagement and project engineering, acquiring a vacant industrial site in Thunder Bay for the lithium conversion facility, completing a CAD 3.35 million convertible loan, and finalizing important land acquisitions. Frontier Lithium continues to advance its integrated lithium supply chain from mining to lithium chemical production, positioning itself as a critical supplier to the growing North American EV battery and energy storage markets aligned with Canadian government priorities on critical mineral supply security and clean energy transition. The strategic partnership with Mitsubishi and ongoing feasibility studies underscore Frontier’s focus on operational scale-up and downstream value addition within the critical lithium sector.
