Business
EXEL Industries S.A. EXEL Industries SA is a French family-owned industrial group that designs, manufactures and markets capital equipment and associated services for agricultural equipment, industry and leisure markets, enabling customers to enhance efficiency, productivity and environmental objectives; the company operates in over 30 countries across five continents with 24 production sites and generates over 80% of its €1.1 billion revenue from outside France. Founded through Tecnoma in 1952 by Vincent Ballu—who invented the high-clearance tractor in 1946—and headquartered in Paris, EXEL Industries S.A. structures its activities into agricultural spraying via brands including Berthoud, Tecnoma, Hardi, Agrifac, Nicolas, Evrard, Préciculture, Apache and CMC for self-propelled, trailed and carried sprayers serving market gardening, large-scale crops, arboriculture and viticulture; sugar beet harvesting and loading through Holmer; industrial spraying equipment such as manual guns, robotic applicators, pumps and dosing systems for paints, adhesives and sealants via Sames, complemented by technical hoses from Tricoflex; garden watering, spraying and maintenance tools under Hozelock, Laser Industrie, Devaux, G.F. S.r.l. and Cooper Pegler; and nautical leisure boats including ocean-going yachts, day-sailers and powerboats from Rhéa Marine, Wauquiez and Tofinou brands. Recent developments include the 2023 acquisition of the majority stake in French family group Devaux for garden tools production in Normandy; leadership transition in December 2023 with Daniel Tragus succeeding Yves Belega as Chief Executive Officer; rebuilding of the Sames plant in Stains, France, with foundation stone laid in June 2024 at a cost of €20 million alongside ongoing ERP upgrades and credit line renewals; new establishments in Nebraska, USA, and Kazakhstan for agricultural spraying and industry expansion; opening of a Sames powder application laboratory in Michigan; receipt of Deloitte's Best Managed Companies label for the third consecutive year in June 2025; and creation of EXXACT Robotics as a research center for precision farming robotics to support sustainable practices like biocontrol and reduced phytosanitary use.
