Business
Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd is a Malaysia-based manufacturer specializing in industrial rubber products and disposable latex gloves, operating primarily through four segments: Technical Rubber Products, Gloves, Cleanroom Products, and Others. The Technical Rubber Products division produces high-technical input rubber products such as rollers for agriculture, printing, industrial, automotive, shoe, marine, and construction applications, including molded and extruded products, pipe seals, gaskets, rubber rolls for various industrial uses, and polyurethane (PU) products. The Gloves segment manufactures medical-grade examination gloves, specialty gloves for healthcare and industrial uses, and rubber latex surgical and procedure gloves under its well-known brands including Puresafe, Chemax, and 7th Sense. The Cleanroom Products business supplies rubber products tailored for cleanroom environments such as cleanroom facemasks, gloves, and wipes. The majority of Kossan's revenue is derived from exports outside Malaysia. Founded in 1979 and headquartered in Shah Alam, Malaysia, Kossan has grown to be one of the world's largest disposable glove manufacturers with an annual gloves production capacity reaching 32 billion pieces and compounding capacity exceeding 10,000 metric tons annually. Recent major changes include ongoing business growth driven by higher sales volume and improved production efficiencies, evidenced by a 17% revenue increase in the first nine months of fiscal 2024 despite logistic challenges. The company has focused on enhancing cost efficiencies and raising average selling prices which improved profitability in 2024 and 2025. Strategic efforts involve continuous product quality improvements, expansion of cleanroom product offerings, and maintaining competitiveness through advanced manufacturing technologies and robust export capabilities. Operationally, Kossan sustained its leadership in the gloves industry while diversifying its technical rubber product applications to serve various industrial sectors, maintaining a strong emphasis on export markets mainly across healthcare, industrial, and cleanroom segments. These advances reflect Kossan's commitment to sustainable growth and reinforced market positioning within the global rubber product and disposable glove industry landscape.
