Business
Transcontinental Inc. (TSX: TCL.A TCL.B), operating as TC Transcontinental, is a Canadian leader in flexible packaging, commercial printing, retail marketing services and specialty media. The company specializes in flexible packaging solutions including extrusion, lamination, flexographic printing and converting of plastic films such as rollstock, labels, die-cut lids, shrink films, bags, pouches and advanced coatings for industries including dairy, coffee, meat and poultry, pet food, agriculture, beverages, home and personal care, industrial, consumer and medical markets; retail services and printing encompassing flyer printing, digital flyers, retail analytics, in-store marketing and point-of-purchase displays; and media solutions featuring newspapers, magazines, four-color books, educational publishing and specialized professional publications in French and English. TC Transcontinental operates across Canada, the United States, Latin America including facilities in Guatemala, Ecuador and Colombia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand, with over 7,500 employees serving major retailers, brands and businesses. Founded in 1976 by Rémi Marcoux and headquartered at 1 Place Ville Marie in Montreal, Quebec, the company maintains a diversified portfolio across packaging, retail services and printing, and media segments, generating significant cash flows through its leadership positions and long-term customer relationships. Recent strategic acquisitions bolster its growth, including the June 2025 purchase of Middleton Group to expand in-store marketing capabilities for North American retailers; the August 2025 acquisition of Canva Group businesses Mirazed and Intergraphics to accelerate retail services offerings; and the transformative $1.32 billion acquisition of Coveris Americas in 2025, enhancing flexible packaging scale and technical expertise as part of an M&A pivot toward accretive deals in consolidating markets. These moves support organic expansion in high-margin verticals like book printing and in-store marketing, where the retail services and printing segment reported revenue growth and improved EBITDA in 2025. TC Transcontinental pursues a three-pronged strategy of growing packaging via sales and acquisitions, optimizing printing platforms and expanding book publishing.
