NexPoint Real Estate Finance, Inc. (NYSE: NREF) is an externally managed commercial mortgage real estate investment trust that originates, structures and invests in first-lien mortgage loans, mezzanine loans, preferred equity, convertible notes, multifamily properties, common stock investments, multifamily commercial mortgage-backed securities securitizations, multifamily structured credit risk notes, mortgage-backed securities, promissory notes, revolving credit facilities and stock warrants. The company focuses primarily on real estate sectors where its senior management team possesses operating expertise, including multifamily, single-family rental, self-storage, life science, hospitality and office properties that are stabilized or have light transitional business plans requiring limited deferred funding for leasing, ramp-up or value-add improvements; these investments are concentrated predominantly in the top 50 U.S. metropolitan statistical areas. NREF conducts substantially all of its business through its operating partnership, NexPoint Real Estate Finance Operating Partnership, L.P., and is externally managed by NexPoint Real Estate Advisors VII, L.P., a subsidiary of NexPoint Advisors, L.P. Incorporated in 2019 and based in Dallas, Texas, the company serves institutional and retail investors seeking attractive, risk-adjusted returns through its publicly traded common stock and preferred stock offerings. In November 2025, NREF launched a continuous public offering of up to $200 million of 8.00% Series C Cumulative Redeemable Preferred Stock, consisting of up to 8 million shares offered on a reasonable best efforts basis by NexPoint Securities, Inc. as dealer manager, with proceeds intended for general corporate purposes such as funding investments and repaying debt obligations. The company previously offered Series B Redeemable Preferred Stock featuring a 9% annual dividend paid monthly and senior position to common stock, underscoring its strategy to expand capital access through preferred equity instruments. NREF maintains its core investment approach amid market dynamics, reporting third quarter 2025 results in October 2025 that included net income of $1.12 per diluted share.
