- Devyani International Limited (DIL) operates as one of India's largest franchisees for Yum Brands, managing KFC and Pizza Hut quick-service restaurant chains; it serves as the exclusive franchisee for Costa Coffee cafes in India and runs its in-house brand Vaango offering South Indian vegetarian cuisine, alongside The Food Street food court concepts and food and beverage outlets in Indian airports. The company provides a diverse menu across these brands, including fried chicken, pizzas, burgers, rice bowls, snacks, beverages, desserts, and coffee specialties, targeting urban and semi-urban consumers seeking convenient dining options. Established in 1991 and headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana, DIL conducts operations in over 280 cities across India, Thailand, Nigeria, and Nepal, with more than 2,030 stores as of December 31, 2024, including over 900 KFC outlets, 580 Pizza Hut stores, 190 Costa Coffee cafes, and 70 Vaango locations.
DIL functions as a key growth engine for its parent conglomerate RJ Corp, leveraging cross-brand synergies, cluster-based market presence, and disciplined financial management to drive expansion in the competitive food and beverage sector. In recent developments, the company acquired an 80.72% stake in Sky Gate Hospitality for approximately 420 crore rupees in April 2025, integrating popular Indian cuisine brands such as Biryani By Kilo, Goila Butter Chicken, and The Bhojan into its portfolio, thereby expanding to 10 diverse food and beverage brands and entering the traditional Indian food segment.
Further strategic moves include partnerships with international brands Tealive (Malaysian beverages), New York Fries (Canadian fries), and Sanook Kitchen (Singaporean cuisine) announced in late 2024, alongside test launches of Tealive stores in India and Thailand, the debut of a New York Fries outlet in Mumbai, and accelerated Costa Coffee growth with 67 new stores added in the year ending March 2024. DIL also deepened its collaboration with PVR INOX for food courts in shopping centers and cinemas, added 257 net new stores in fiscal year 2025 to reach 2,039 outlets, and increased its stake in Sky Gate to 86.13% with an additional 103 crore rupees investment, targeting break-even for the acquired brands by March 2026. These initiatives underscore DIL's focus on portfolio diversification, store network expansion, and penetration into high-footfall channels like food courts and travel hubs.
