Business
Vasa Retail & Overseas Ltd. is an Indian consumer goods and trading company primarily engaged in the design, manufacturing, marketing, and distribution of stationery products, school and office supplies, luggage accessories, and paper-related raw materials. The company operates across domestic and international markets, utilizing an asset-light model that combines in-house design capabilities with outsourced manufacturing. Its extensive product portfolio includes paper stationery comprising notebooks, hardbound registers, exercise books, writing pads, drawing books, sticky notes, and envelopes; writing instruments including ballpoint pens, gel pens, markers, highlighters, and mechanical pencils; filing and desktop organization systems consisting of lever arch files, ring binders, display books, document folders, clipboards, and desk organizers; art, craft, and scholastic supplies featuring coloring kits, sketch books, adhesive tapes, glues, and craft scissors; bags and travel accessories encompassing student backpacks, laptop bags, utility pouches, duffle bags, and pencil cases; and industrial raw materials including paper pulp, paper rolls, and synthetic bag fabrics distributed to third-party manufacturers. The company markets its product line under proprietary brand names such as Vasa, Bbag, and Vasta, alongside licensed merchandise under an international licensing arrangement for the University of Oxford brand across India and selected overseas territories. Geographically, its operations span India as well as export markets across the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and North America. In recent developments, Vasa Retail & Overseas Ltd. has implemented strategic and operational adjustments, transitioning away from capital-intensive production toward third-party contract sourcing, product portfolio rationalization, and distribution channel optimization. In response to recent financial pressures, debt servicing challenges, and auditor-noted working capital constraints, the company has temporarily suspended specific direct manufacturing operations to contain overhead costs, while focusing corporate resources on balance sheet restructuring, liability settlements, and regulatory compliance on the National Stock Exchange SME platform. Originally established in 1994 as a partnership firm under the name Vasa International and incorporated as a public limited company in October 2017, Vasa Retail & Overseas Ltd. is headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
