Business
Nexans S.A. designs, manufactures, and markets cable systems and services essential for sustainable electrification worldwide. The company operates through four primary business areas: PWR-Transmission, which provides high-voltage cables and services for offshore wind farms, subsea interconnectors, and land-based power transmission projects; PWR-Grid, delivering medium- and low-voltage solutions for power distribution, smart grids, utilities, and e-mobility; PWR-Connect, offering cabling systems for buildings, territories, data centers, and telecommunications; and Industry & Solutions, supplying specialized copper and fiber-optic cables and connectivity solutions for renewables, transportation, oil and gas, mining, automation, aeronautics, rail, shipbuilding, and other industrial sectors. Nexans serves network operators, original equipment manufacturers, engineering procurement and construction firms, infrastructure developers, and end-users across submarine and land applications; it maintains manufacturing facilities and operational presence in Europe, North America, South America, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa. Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Courbevoie, near Paris, France, the company traces its cable manufacturing heritage to 1897 through predecessor entities. Recent developments include the October 2025 announcement of an agreement to acquire Electro Cables Inc. in Canada to bolster low-voltage offerings and PWR-Connect positioning, enhancing synergies and market presence in a dynamic North American market; a September 2025 €250 million financing agreement with the European Investment Bank to fund research, development, and industrial expansions such as a new copper recycling factory in Lens, France, by 2026 increasing production capacity over 50 percent and recycling up to 80,000 tons annually, alongside upgrades in Charleroi and Erembodegem, Belgium, and Calais and Bourg-en-Bresse, France; completion of the Estlink 2 subsea interconnector repair between Finland and Estonia; advancement of the Dieppe–Le Tréport offshore wind farm grid connection in France; and the hull launch of the next-generation Nexans Electra cable-laying vessel in November 2025.
