- Nordic Aqua Partners AS is a Norway-based aquaculture company engaged in the land-based farming and production of Atlantic salmon utilizing advanced Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) technology. Founded in 2016 and headquartered in Oslo, Norway, the company operates primarily through its wholly owned operating subsidiary, Nordic Aqua (Ningbo) Co., Ltd., which develops and manages a fully integrated land-based salmon facility located on Gaotang Island in Xiangshan County, Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China. Nordic Aqua Partners operates within the seafood and aquaculture sector, targeting the Chinese domestic seafood market to deliver fresh, sustainably farmed Atlantic salmon with same-day local market access. The company's core product portfolio comprises fresh Atlantic salmon marketed under its proprietary Nordic PureAtlantic brand; fresh whole head-on gutted (HOG) Atlantic salmon; fresh salmon fillets, portions, and steaks; and value-added chilled salmon products supplied to supermarket retail chains, high-end culinary establishments, hospitality operators, seafood distributors, and e-commerce platforms across major metropolitan centers in China, including Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, and Shenzhen.
In recent operational and corporate developments, Nordic Aqua Partners achieved a major milestone in April 2024 by completing the first commercial harvest of Atlantic salmon at its Ningbo facility, marking the commercial debut of its Nordic PureAtlantic brand in the Chinese market. The company has actively advanced the construction of its Stage 2 expansion project at the Gaotang facility, which is designed to double annual production capacity from 4,000 metric tonnes to 8,000 metric tonnes, as part of a broader roadmap targeting 20,000 metric tonnes of annual output. To fund the capital expenditure for Stage 2 and provide working capital, Nordic Aqua Partners completed private placements of new shares and secured credit facilities in collaboration with international and domestic banking partners, including the Bank of China and Eksfin. In addition, following biological and water management refinements in 2024, the company reinforced its RAS filtration, purification, and depuration protocols alongside its primary technology provider AKVA group, appointed new operational and commercial leadership, and broadened its domestic cold-chain distribution network across mainland China.
