- Ridgeback Resources Inc. is an upstream energy company engaged in the acquisition, exploration, development, and production of crude oil, natural gas liquids, and natural gas reserves in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. Headquartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, and established in 2016 following the corporate restructuring of Lightstream Resources Ltd., the company focuses on exploiting high-netback, light oil-weighted conventional and unconventional resource plays across Alberta and Saskatchewan. Ridgeback Resources operates through an integrated upstream oil and gas model that provides and delivers a systematic range of energy products and field development capabilities, including light crude oil; medium and heavy crude oil; natural gas liquids, comprising condensate, propane, butane, and ethane; conventional and unconventional natural gas; horizontal drilling, multi-stage hydraulic fracturing, and well completion operations; reservoir characterization, secondary recovery, and waterflood management services; crude oil emulsion gathering, handling, and pipeline transportation; and natural gas processing, compression, dehydration, and midstream treating facilities. The company directs its hydrocarbon extraction from premier geological plays, including the Cardium light oil fairway in Central Alberta; the Montney tight gas and liquids play in the Peace River Arch; the Bakken, Torquay, and Ratcliffe formations in Southeast Saskatchewan; and the Shaunavon and Viking reservoirs in Southwest and West-Central Saskatchewan. Its production is marketed and supplied to crude oil refiners, midstream energy processors, pipeline operators, industrial consumers, and commodity trading counterparties across North America. In a major strategic corporate consolidation, Saturn Oil & Gas Inc. completed the acquisition of Ridgeback Resources Inc. for approximately CAD 525 million, integrating Ridgeback's low-decline, high-netback production base and substantial inventory of horizontal drilling locations into its expanded operating platform. Following this transaction, operational initiatives center on executing optimized development drilling programs across core Cardium and Southeast Saskatchewan units, expanding infrastructure and pipeline tie-in capacities, advancing facility rationalization, and capturing regional operational synergies.
