Business
Prysmian S.p.A. manufactures and supplies a comprehensive range of cables and systems for the energy and telecommunications industries; its core offerings include high-voltage underground and submarine cables and systems for power transmission and distribution, medium- and low-voltage cables for construction and infrastructure sectors, optical fibers, copper cables, and connectivity systems for voice, video, and data transmission; and specialty cables for electrification, industrial applications, power grid, transmission projects such as offshore wind farms and interconnectors, and digital solutions including fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) components. The company operates worldwide through over 100 plants in more than 50 countries, with a primary focus on EMEA, North America, and other regions, serving utilities, telecom operators, and industrial customers. Founded in 1879 as part of Pirelli and headquartered in Milan, Italy, Prysmian leads in high-tech cable markets with around 33,000 employees and annual sales exceeding 17 billion euros. Prysmian recently completed key acquisitions to expand its portfolio, including Channell Commercial Corporation in June 2025 for $950 million to strengthen FTTH and digital solutions in North America, Encore Wire Corporation in July 2024 to bolster electrification and industrial cables, and Warren & Brown; it also opened a $63.8 million manufacturing expansion in Du Quoin, Illinois, in 2025 for renewable energy and electric vehicle cables, and upgraded its FY25 guidance in July 2025 amid strong organic growth and margin expansion.
