The company produces and markets crude oil, natural gas, refined fuels, renewable fuels, petrochemicals including basic chemicals and derivatives, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in bottled, bulk, and AutoGas formats, lubricants, aviation fuels, asphalt bitumen, petroleum specialties, aviation biofuels from waste and biomass, low-emission electricity from hydroelectric, combined cycle, cogeneration, wind, and photovoltaic sources; it also supplies renewable hydrogen, electricity, and gas to residential and business customers, manages maritime transport, and trades hydrocarbons, LNG, and petrochemicals internationally. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Madrid, Spain, Repsol maintains operations in over 20 countries across Europe, the Americas, North Africa, and Asia, including refineries in Spain and Peru, service stations primarily in Spain, Portugal, Mexico, and Peru, petrochemical complexes in Spain and Portugal, and exploration activities in the United States, Canada, Brazil, Norway, and others. In recent developments, Repsol advances its 2024-2027 strategic plan with over 16 billion euros in net investments, more than 35% allocated to low-carbon initiatives such as renewables in Spain, the US, Chile, and Italy; it completed a partnership with Stonepeak in April 2025 for a US solar and storage portfolio, marking its first renewables asset rotation in the US market and the sixth such transaction since 2021, alongside alliances with Crédit Agricole Assurances and EIP; additionally, in March 2025, Repsol acquired a 40% stake in Unioil Lubricants Inc. to expand lubricants production and market presence in Asia, complementing prior joint ventures with Bardahl in Mexico and United Oil in Singapore.
