Business
ValueMax Group Limited is a Singapore-based investment holding company that provides pawnbroking and secured moneylending services, as well as the retail and trading of jewellery and gold; it operates through four segments including pawnbroking, retail and trading of jewellery and gold, moneylending, and other operations such as investment holding, management, IT support, and property holding. Pawnbroking services accept pledges of yellow or white gold jewellery, diamond jewellery, branded timepieces, gold, platinum, or silver bars and coins; moneylending offers secured and unsecured term loans to businessmen and corporates with urgent cash needs, plus hire purchase and floor stock financing for the automotive industry; retail sales encompass new and pre-owned gold and diamond jewellery, gold bars and coins, branded watches, and Hermès bags, with pre-owned items undergoing makeover, polishing, and quality checks for resale at attractive prices; gold trading involves purchasing scrap gold from subsidiaries, pawnbrokers, and traders, then selling fine gold bars to jewellery factories, wholesalers, and retailers. The group, founded in 1988 with its first pawnbroking outlet, became the first pawnbroking chain listed on the Singapore Exchange Mainboard in 2013; it is headquartered at 261 Waterloo Street, #01-35 Waterloo Centre, Singapore 180261, and is a subsidiary of Yeah Holdings Pte. Ltd.; operations span 50 pawnbroking and retail outlets in Singapore plus one associated pawnshop, and 27 outlets in Malaysia via associated companies, primarily targeting consumers, businesses, and the automotive sector in these markets. Recent developments include the acquisition of Ban Fook Pawnshop Pte. Ltd. for SGD 1.8 million completed in March 2025, the acquisition of Heng Heng Pawnshop Pte. Ltd. and a pawnbroking and retail business in Ang Mo Kio in early 2025, plus the purchase of a SGD 3.3 million pledge loan book from Ban Fook in February 2025; in FY2024, an associated company, Well Chip Group Berhad, listed on Bursa Malaysia Main Market in July 2024, yielding a $10.1 million gain on dilution of interest; the group expanded revenue to $456.2 million with profit before tax at $97.6 million, supported by multiple commercial paper issuances on SDAX and ADDX platforms, a S$300 million multicurrency medium-term note programme, and ongoing warrant exercises for share allotments.
