- Hernö Gin AB is a Sweden-based craft spirits company engaged in the development, distillation, marketing, and distribution of organic, super-premium artisanal gin and associated hospitality experiences. Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Dala, near Härnösand, Sweden, the company operates as Sweden's first dedicated gin distillery and is established in the global craft spirits market.
Hernö Gin AB manufactures and commercializes a diverse portfolio of organic spirits produced in hand-hammered copper pot stills using certified organic botanicals, including Hernö Dry Gin, a flagship organic London Dry Gin; Hernö Navy Strength Gin, a 57% ABV high-proof spirit; Hernö Old Tom Gin, a classic sweetened botanical expression; Hernö Juniper Cask Gin, aged in juniper wood casks; Hernö Sloe Gin, crafted through maceration with organic sloe berries; Hernö Blackcurrant, a gin-based berry liqueur; Hernö Botanical Flavoured Gin, distilled with a minimalist botanical profile; and the limited-edition Hernö Sipping Gin series, featuring cask-finished expressions matured in ex-whisky, sherry, port, and ice cider barrels. In addition to alcoholic beverage production, the company provides immersive brand and hospitality services comprising distillery tours, tasting events, and masterclasses at its production facility in Dala; the Hernö Gin Hotell, a 122-room destination hotel and conference venue in Härnösand operated in partnership with Nordic Hotels & Resorts; and branded tasting venues including Hernö Gin Bar locations in Stockholm and Gothenburg.
The company distributes its products domestically in Sweden through the state-owned alcohol retail monopoly Systembolaget, the on-trade hospitality sector (bars, restaurants, and hotels), and travel retail channels, while exporting to more than 30 international markets across Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region.
In recent corporate developments, Hernö Gin AB listed its Class B shares on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market in Stockholm in June 2024 under the ticker symbol HERNO B, supported by a rights issue raising approximately SEK 35 million to fund capital investments and hospitality infrastructure. Strategically, the company expanded its lifestyle and tourism footprint through the commercial launch of the Hernö Gin Hotell in Härnösand and opened a new Hernö Gin Bar venue in Gothenburg to broaden direct-to-consumer brand engagement. Operationally, Hernö Gin transitioned its domestic distribution to Systembolaget in-house to enhance supply chain oversight, sales execution, and operating margins. The company continues to maintain an award-winning international profile, having earned multiple International Gin Producer of the Year honors from the International Wine and Spirit Competition.
