Business
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited operates as the national flag carrier of Thailand, primarily engaged in providing passenger and cargo air transportation services. Its main products and services include domestic and international scheduled passenger flights; cargo and freight services; ancillary services such as in-flight catering, baggage handling, and airport ground services; and premium cabins including Royal First, Royal Silk (Business), and Economy class with enhanced amenities. The company also operates widebody and narrowbody aircraft fleets, including Boeing and Airbus models, serving routes across Asia, Europe, Australia, the Americas, and the Middle East. Additionally, it manages loyalty programs and offers charter flights and maintenance services. Founded in 1960 and headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand, Thai Airways conducts extensive operations through its main hub at Suvarnabhumi Airport and maintains a significant presence in key international markets such as Japan, Europe, Australia, India, and South Asia. The company completed the operational merger with its low-cost subsidiary Thai Smile in 2025, consolidating flight operations for improved financial and operational efficiencies. Thai Airways is actively modernizing its fleet with major recent acquisitions including an order for 45 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft as part of a broader business rehabilitation plan, with first deliveries expected in 2027 and a potential expansion of the order to 95 aircraft. Additionally, it has introduced new Airbus A321neo aircraft featuring advanced passenger cabins to enhance travel comfort. Recent strategic shifts involve a comprehensive five-year investment plan valued at approximately 170 billion baht aiming to streamline fleet types, concentrate on premium segment growth, and enhance digital transformation for operational excellence. The airline has launched initiatives such as "Fly for the New Pride" focused on sustainable growth, strengthening route networks with emphasis on transit traffic, increasing premium cabin share, and diversifying revenue sources beyond core airline operations. Enhancement of passenger services includes new inflight amenities, refreshed catering partnerships featuring premium Thai products, and advanced onboard connectivity systems across its fleet. Thai Airways also converted significant creditor debt into capital as part of its exit from business rehabilitation projected by mid-2025, transitioning towards private company operations with increased flexibility and transparency. Its restructuring facilitates cost control through fleet simplification and workforce adjustments to drive profitability and market share expansion. Thai Airways operates globally across multiple continents and continues to maintain strategic partnerships, including procurement relationships supporting its fleet renewal. The company is positioned to adapt and innovate amid evolving market conditions while reaffirming its role as a leading full-service airline representing Thailand internationally.
