Business
BT Group plc is a leading British multinational telecommunications company that provides fixed-line telephony, mobile telephony, broadband internet, fibre-optic communications, digital television, IT services, cyber security, networking, and managed services to consumers, businesses, public sector organizations, and other communications providers. The company operates through Consumer, Business, International, and Openreach segments; offers products under brands including BT, EE, Plusnet, and TNT Sports; and serves over 30 million customers primarily in the UK with additional operations in approximately 180 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and Asia Pacific. Founded with roots in 1846 as the Electric Telegraph Company and headquartered at One Braham in London, England, BT Group generated £20.4 billion in revenue for the year ended March 2025. Its core offerings encompass broadband, mobile connectivity, TV entertainment, handsets, gaming, insurance, unified communications, cloud services, IoT solutions, and wholesale access to fixed and mobile networks, including full fibre to 20 million UK homes and businesses and 5G+ coverage for most of the population. Recent strategic developments include the September 2025 agreement to sell its Radianz financial markets business to Transaction Network Services to focus on core international strengths in secure multi-cloud connectivity; the December 2024 announcement of Equinix's acquisition of BT's Irish datacentre business for EUR59 million, expected to complete in early 2025 as part of an asset-light international strategy; and preliminary March 2025 approaches to AT&T and Orange regarding potential partnerships or stake sales in its global unit.
