Business
Transportadora de Gas del Sur S.A. Transportadora de Gas del Sur S.A. (TGS) transports natural gas and produces and commercializes natural gas liquids in Argentina, operating the largest pipeline system in Latin America that handles approximately 60% of the country's natural gas consumption; the company provides midstream services including natural gas conditioning, treatment, impurity removal, compression, collection, transport, pipeline inspection, maintenance, and steam generation for electricity production; it also offers telecommunications services through its Telcosur unit via a digital terrestrial radio relay network. TGS operates through four segments—Natural Gas Transportation Services, Liquids Production and Commercialization, Midstream, and Telecommunications—with core assets encompassing the Neuba I, Neuba II, and San Martin pipelines spanning over 7,900 kilometers, compressor stations with significant horsepower capacity, and the General Cerri Complex in Bahía Blanca for recovering ethane, propane, butane, natural gasoline, and other NGLs, which it dispatches via nearby Galván Harbor to residential, commercial, industrial, and power generation customers. Founded in 1992 following the privatization of Gas del Estado and headquartered in Buenos Aires, TGS serves markets across southern and western Argentina including Neuquén, Río Negro, La Pampa, Buenos Aires, Chubut, and Tierra del Fuego provinces, with about 1,150 employees; it functions as a subsidiary of Compañía de Inversiones de Energía S.A. and maintains operations concentrated in the Vaca Muerta shale basin. Recent developments include securing in October 2025 a major contract ratified by the Argentine Energy Bureau for expanding Section I of the Perito Francisco Pascasio Moreno Gas Pipeline to enhance transportation capacity and support Vaca Muerta growth; awarding in June 2024 of expansion works for the same pipeline to promote Vaca Muerta development and reduce imports; selection to operate and maintain the 573-km Tratayén-Salliquelö section of the Presidente Néstor Kirchner Gas Pipeline; ongoing extension of the Vaca Muerta Norte Pipeline by 32 km; new gas transportation and treatment contracts in 2024 boosting average firm contracted capacity to 22.8 million cubic meters per day for transportation and 14.5 million for treatment as part of a multi-year investment plan started in 2023; a strategic alliance with Grupo Datco via Telcosur to improve connectivity in Vaca Muerta and southern regions; receipt of Latin Finance's "Deals of the Year 2024" award for its corporate bond; and celebration of 30 years listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
