It also develops and sells products for lifestyle support and home-delivery lunch boxes; leases land and buildings; and operates warehouses. Established on September 4, 1947 and headquartered at Mita S-Garden, 26-16 Shiba 5-chome, Minato-ku, Tokyo, Japan, the company lists its shares on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market under ticker 2109 and counts Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Corporation among its major shareholders. In April 2025, Mitsui DM Sugar merges its holding company structure by absorbing consolidated subsidiary DM Mitsui Sugar Co., Ltd. and changes its name from Mitsui DM Sugar Holdings Co., Ltd. to Mitsui DM Sugar Co., Ltd., streamlining operations while renewing its corporate website. The company reports extraordinary income of 47,341 million yen from a subsidiary merger, excluding impact on consolidated financial results. It plans to launch the Osakana Kakumei brand of plant-based bluefin tuna in 2026 via subsidiary Taisho Technos to address rising seafood costs and production declines, targeting annual output of 10 tonnes by 2028 alongside potential expansions to salmon and squid alternatives.
