Business
Takasago International Corporation (4914.T) manufactures and markets flavors, fragrances, aroma chemicals and functional ingredients for the food, beverage, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals and household products industries worldwide. The company produces natural and synthetic flavors including fruit, dairy, savory and beverage profiles; synthetic and natural fragrances for fine, personal care and household applications; aroma chemicals such as musks, aldehydes and esters; and functional ingredients like masking agents and natural extracts. Takasago offers custom formulation services, fragrance compounding and application development through its global research and development network. Founded in 1920 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Takasago operates production facilities and sales offices across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, serving multinational consumer goods companies and regional brands in the flavor and fragrance sector. The company segments its business into flavors for food and beverages; fragrances for perfumes, soaps, detergents and air care products; and advanced aroma solutions for health and wellness applications. Subsidiaries include Takasago USA, Inc. and Takasago Europe GmbH, with no parent company affiliation. In the last two years, Takasago expanded its sustainable ingredient portfolio through a strategic partnership with Givaudan for biotech-derived aroma compounds and completed the acquisition of a natural extracts facility in France to bolster organic flavor capabilities. The company launched its BioPure line of fermentation-based flavors in 2024 and secured a major funding round from institutional investors to advance biotech R&D. Takasago also reorganized its Asia-Pacific operations for enhanced supply chain efficiency amid global demand growth.
