Business
RENOVA, Inc. (9519.T) develops, owns and operates renewable energy power plants primarily in Japan and select international markets; it generates and sells electricity from solar photovoltaic, onshore and offshore wind, biomass, geothermal and hydro power facilities through its Renewable Energy Power Generation Business segment, while its Renewable Energy Development and Operation Business segment focuses on project development, engineering and maintenance services for these assets. The company also advances green transformation (GX) initiatives, including non-FIT renewables via off-site power purchase agreements (PPAs), utility-scale energy storage systems (ESS) in Japan, the United States and Asia such as the Himeji facility, green hydrogen and ammonia production for hard-to-abate industries, and biomass-derived fuels like pellets, black pellets, renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from untapped resources in North America and Asia-Pacific. Founded on May 30, 2000 and headquartered at 18F KYOBASHI EDOGRAND, 2-2-1 Kyobashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-0031 Japan, RENOVA operates through numerous subsidiaries including RENOVA Renewables Asia Pte. Ltd., Renova USA Inc. and project-specific entities like Kanda Biomass Energy K.K. and Reihoku Wind Power G.K., targeting corporate customers under RE100, electricity retailers, grid operators and industrial users across Japan, Southeast Asia (Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia), the US and beyond. Recent developments include a capital and business alliance with Tokyo Gas announced April 1, 2024 encompassing joint investments in energy storage plants, development funding for renewables and a PPA for the 54.6 MW Reihoku Amakusa Onshore Wind project; a US$25 million convertible bond subscription in Pathway Power Holdings LLC in December 2023 marking its US market entry; additional equity acquisition in Omaezakikou Biomass Energy G.K. in February 2025 to consolidate it as a subsidiary; and a 20-year power sales contract for an 85 MW solar project in the Philippines with Victorias Green Energy Corp. in November 2025, advancing its Medium-Term Management Plan 2030 goal of 5.0 GW total capacity including 1.8 GW overseas.
