Business
Sonoro Gold Corp. is a Canada-based junior gold exploration and development company focused on advancing its mineral properties in Sonora State, Mexico. The company holds the flagship development-stage Cerro Caliche gold project, comprising 15 contiguous mining concessions covering approximately 1,400 hectares in Cucurpe Municipality and featuring multiple oxide gold mineralized zones including Buena Suerte, Japoneses, El Colorado, and Cuervos suitable for open-pit heap leach mining; and the exploration-stage San Marcial gold-silver project in Santa Ana Municipality overlaying historic mine sites with confirmed anomalous zones for future drilling. Founded in 2006 and headquartered in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Sonoro targets production at Cerro Caliche with an initial 12,000 tonnes per day heap leach operation to generate cash flow for exploration and expansion, operating exclusively in Mexico's mining-friendly Sonora jurisdiction. In recent developments, the company completed the final concession payment securing 100% ownership of Cerro Caliche in October 2025, closed an oversubscribed $4.1 million private placement in October 2025 and additional financings totaling over $7 million in 2025 to fund project advancement, secured all surface rights and advanced environmental permitting including submission of the Manifestacion de Impacto Ambiental in July 2025, plans an updated Preliminary Economic Assessment by Q1 2026 reflecting higher gold prices and costs, and evaluates spinning out San Marcial into its wholly owned subsidiary Oronos Gold Corp. as part of a strategic asset reorganization announced in September 2025.
