Vodacom Group Limited operates as an African telecommunications company, providing voice, messaging, data connectivity, broadband, converged services, mobile financial services including M-Pesa lending and savings, and enterprise solutions such as Vodacom Business Africa managed services; it serves over 200 million customers across consumer and enterprise segments through mobile networks covering more than 500 million people. The company maintains operations in South Africa, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Lesotho, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Kenya, with additional business services extended to over 40 African countries including Nigeria, Zambia, Angola, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, and Cameroon. Founded in 1993 and headquartered in Midrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, Vodacom Group remains majority-owned by Vodafone with a 65.1% stake. In recent developments, Vodacom secures regulatory approval to acquire a 30% stake in Maziv Proprietary Limited, parent of Vumatel and Dark Fibre Africa, effective 1 December 2025, to expand its fibre infrastructure and fixed broadband capabilities in South Africa. Additionally, in December 2025, Vodacom agrees to increase its stake in associate Safaricom from 35% to 55% through a KES34-per-share transaction valued at approximately R36 billion, shifting it to full consolidation and enhancing presence in Kenya's high-growth market. The company continues 4G/5G network expansions, including 5G launches in Egypt in June 2025, alongside investments in beyond-core financial services that contribute significantly to revenue growth.
