Business
Valmont Industries, Inc. (VMI) manufactures engineered products and provides services for infrastructure and agriculture markets worldwide. The company produces steel, pre-stressed concrete, and composite poles and structures for utility transmission, substation, distribution, lighting, transportation, telecommunications, and solar applications; mechanized irrigation systems including center pivot and linear equipment under the Valley brand, along with advanced technology solutions such as remote crop monitoring and precision agriculture tools; and protective coatings services for industrial and infrastructure uses. Valmont operates manufacturing facilities in approximately 22 countries across six continents, serving customers in more than 100 countries, with a primary focus on North America, Europe, Asia, and emerging markets in Africa and Latin America. Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, the company employs over 10,000 people and generates the majority of its revenue from its two main segments: Infrastructure, which includes engineered support structures and coatings, and Agriculture, encompassing irrigation and AgTech solutions. In recent developments, Valmont has pursued capacity expansions in utility infrastructure, including a $700 million investment over three to four years for new facilities such as the Brenham, Texas plant and equipment upgrades like brake presses and welding systems, aimed at unlocking $350 million to $400 million in additional annual revenue starting in late 2025. The company reported strong third-quarter 2025 results with Infrastructure segment growth driven by utility demand, grid modernization, and improved factory throughput, alongside an infrastructure backlog nearing $1.5 billion and international project awards including $20 million in Africa. Valmont continues strategic investments in AI for scheduling at eight infrastructure facilities, e-commerce platforms like Accent 365 for agriculture, and long-term growth initiatives targeting $500 million to $700 million in sales increases and enhanced EPS through technology integration and share buybacks.
