Business
Wintrust Financial Corporation is a financial holding company that provides community banking, specialty finance and wealth management services through its banking and nonbank subsidiaries. Incorporated in 1992 and headquartered in Rosemont, Illinois, the company serves individuals, small and mid-sized businesses, local governments and institutional clients primarily across the greater Chicago area, southern Wisconsin, west Michigan, northwest Indiana and southwest Florida. Wintrust’s core banking offerings include commercial, commercial real estate, residential real estate and consumer lending; deposit products; treasury and cash management services; mortgage banking; and branch-based retail and commercial banking delivered through a network of more than 200 banking offices and 16 community bank subsidiaries. Its specialty finance operations provide insurance premium financing, equipment financing through structured loans and leases, accounts receivable financing, and outsourced administrative services. Its wealth management franchise offers trust and investment services, asset management, brokerage services, tax-deferred like-kind exchange services and related fiduciary solutions through Wintrust Private Trust Company, Great Lakes Advisors, Wintrust Investments and Chicago Deferred Exchange Company. Recent strategic changes include the August 2024 completion of the all-stock acquisition of Macatawa Bank Corporation, which expanded Wintrust’s Michigan presence, and the July 2026 agreement by Wintrust Private Trust Company to acquire Northern Trust’s guardianship services business, a $1.2 billion assets-under-management operation expected to close later in 2026. The company also expanded its wealth management distribution in September 2026 when Great Lakes Advisors entered a new solicitation agreement with Transamerica Asset Management to offer its Large Cap Value strategy through unified managed accounts and separately managed accounts.
