The York Water Company (NASDAQ: YORW), the oldest investor-owned utility in the United States, impounds, purifies and distributes drinking water and provides wastewater collection and treatment services to residential, commercial and industrial customers across 57 municipalities in Adams, Franklin, Lancaster and York counties in south-central Pennsylvania; its water operations encompass primary surface water sources including Lake Williams and Lake Redman reservoirs with a combined capacity of approximately 2.5 billion gallons, a 15-mile pipeline from the Susquehanna River to Lake Redman, satellite groundwater systems, two impounding dams, treatment plants producing over 24 million gallons daily, and an extensive distribution network with pumping stations; wastewater services include three collection systems and ten collection and treatment systems serving over 212,000 people. Founded in 1816 and headquartered at 130 East Market Street in York, Pennsylvania, the company supplies water to industries such as fixtures and furniture, electrical machinery, food products, paper, ordnance, textiles, air conditioning, laundry detergents and motorcycles while maintaining the nation's longest record of consecutive dividend payments. In recent developments, The York Water Company acquired the wastewater collection and treatment assets of the York Haven Sewer Authority in December 2024 adding approximately 230 customers, completed the water system acquisition and announced a wastewater system purchase for the Pine Run Retirement Community in Adams County in 2025 pending regulatory approval to add 141 customers, invested $48.2 million in 2024 infrastructure including Lake Williams Dam enhancements, a new wastewater treatment facility and 50,200 feet of pipeline replacement, acquired four water systems and two wastewater systems for $783,000, and plans $46 million in capital expenditures for 2025 focused on main extensions, tank replacements and software upgrades.
