- Bank First Corporation (Nasdaq: BFC) operates as the holding company for Bank First, N.A., a community-focused financial institution that provides a broad range of consumer and commercial banking products and services to businesses, professionals, and individuals primarily in Wisconsin. The bank offers deposit products including checking accounts, savings accounts, money market accounts, cash management accounts, retirement accounts, health savings accounts, time deposits, and certificates of deposit; loan products such as commercial real estate loans, residential mortgages, home equity loans, commercial and industrial loans for working capital, accounts receivable, inventory financing and other business purposes, construction and development loans, residential 1-4 family loans, and consumer loans comprising secured and unsecured installment loans and revolving lines of credit; and additional services encompassing credit cards, online banking, telephone banking, mobile banking, treasury management, data processing, investment and safekeeping services, insurance through its affiliation with Ansay & Associates, LLC, and trust and investment advisory services via regional partners. Bank First, N.A., originally incorporated in 1894, maintains its headquarters in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and operates 26 to 27 full-service banking locations across the state, with approximately 362 full-time equivalent employees and total assets of around $4.5 billion.
In July 2025, Bank First Corporation signed a definitive agreement to acquire Centre 1 Bancorp, Inc., the parent of First National Bank and Trust, in an all-stock transaction valued at $174.3 million, under which Centre shareholders will receive 0.9200 shares of Bank First common stock per share; the merger, expected to close in the first quarter of 2026 with system conversion in the second quarter, will create a combined entity with nearly $6 billion in assets, $4.58 billion in loans, and $4.89 billion in deposits, marking Bank First's first expansion outside Wisconsin into southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois markets. This strategic transaction enhances lending capacity, broadens service capabilities including access to First National Bank and Trust's wealth management offerings for Bank First customers, and leverages Bank First's 40% ownership in Ansay & Associates for insurance, risk management, and employee benefits solutions to Centre customers, while Centre 1 Bancorp CEO Steve Eldred will join Bank First's board of directors post-merger. The bank has historically grown through acquisitions, de novo branch openings, and mergers, such as its prior completion of a merger with Partnership Community Bancshares, Inc., and changed its name from Bank First National Corporation to Bank First Corporation in June 2019.
