Business
Bridgford Foods Corporation (NASDAQ:BRID) manufactures, markets, and distributes frozen and snack food products primarily in the United States. The company operates through two segments, Frozen Food Products and Snack Food Products; its principal offerings include frozen bread dough, buttermilk biscuits, monkey bread, roll dough items, shelf-stable dry and semi-dry sausages, beef jerky, shelf-stable sandwiches, pepperoni, turkey pepperoni, salami, and other non-refrigerated snack items. It sells approximately 130 frozen products to foodservice and retail customers via wholesalers, cooperatives, and distributors, and about 170 snack items to supermarkets, mass merchandisers, and convenience stores through customer-owned distribution centers and direct store delivery networks. Founded in 1932 by Hugh H. Bridgford as a retail meat market in San Diego, California, the company is headquartered in Dallas, Texas, and maintains five production facilities there and in Anaheim, California; Chicago, Illinois; and Statesville, North Carolina. Bridgford Foods serves retail and foodservice channels across all 50 U.S. states, Canada, and select overseas markets, with a workforce of nearly 700 employees; Bridgford Industries Incorporated serves as its parent company, and family members control over 80% of the common stock. Recent developments include the completion in late 2020 of a transition to a new Chicago processing plant acquired in 2017, enhancing production capacity for dry sausage and beef jerky; the retirement of longtime executive Allan Bridgford Sr. in late 2021, with his continued service as a consultant and board member; and a property sale in Chicago in June 2022 that generated substantial pretax gains. In fiscal 2024 (ended October 2024), the company reported sales of $223.6 million, down 11.1% from the prior year amid input cost pressures, alongside insider share purchases by executives in June 2025 and ratification at the annual shareholder meeting of Baker Tilly US, LLP as auditors for the fiscal year ending October 31, 2025.
