(CNRD) specializes in the construction, conversion, and repair of a wide variety of steel and aluminum marine vessels for commercial and governmental customers; its core products and services encompass new construction of offshore and inland barges including deck, crane, spud, tank (up to 83,000 bbl capacity and double-skinned), LPG, LNG bunker, and specialty barges such as aggregate, dry bulk cargo, and well stim types; dredges and dredge support equipment including trailing suction hopper dredges (6,500-cubic-yard capacity), split-hull hopper dredges, and dump scows; tug boats, push boats, tow boats, and multi-purpose tugs for towing, anchor handling, and dredging assistance; ferries for passengers and vehicles including low-emissions hybrid-electric models; drydocks; liftboats; and other offshore support vessels such as supply vessels and crew boats; repair and conversion services cover electrical, mechanical, propulsion, hull repairs, shot blasting, painting, and large-scale modifications like midbody lengthening; the company also provides engineering, modular construction, and computer-aided manufacturing solutions. Founded in 1948 and headquartered in Morgan City, Louisiana, Conrad Industries operates five shipyards—one in Morgan City, three in Amelia, and one in Orange, Texas—serving diverse markets including marine construction, dredging, petrochemical, grain transport, energy (Gulf of Mexico), and government agencies such as the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Puerto Rico Maritime Transit Authority. Recent developments include awards for nine Yard, Repair, Berthing, and Messing (YRBM) barges from the U.S. Navy, with the first delivered in 2024 and a ninth contracted in March 2025; contracts for two 6,500-cubic-yard trailing suction hopper dredges for Great Lakes Dredge & Dock, with the second option exercised for Q1 2025 delivery; four cargo and passenger ferries for Puerto Rico Maritime Transit Authority awarded in 2023; a production agreement with Blue Water Autonomy for autonomous surface vessels announced in 2025; a spud barge contract for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers valued at $9.1 million for April 2025 delivery; and a backlog of $293.8 million as of December 31, 2024, comprising 57 vessels with 51.4% commercial and 48.6% government contracts, following $298.8 million in new awards during the year.
