Elsewedy Electric Company S.A.E. is an Egypt-based multinational provider of integrated energy, infrastructure, and digital solutions. Founded in 1938 and headquartered in Cairo, Egypt, the company operates across six core business segments: Wires, Cables and Accessories; Electrical Products; Engineering and Construction; Digital Solutions; Infrastructure Investments; and Building Solutions. The company manufactures and supplies a comprehensive portfolio of power and transmission equipment, including low-, medium-, high-, and extra-high-voltage power cables, overhead conductors, specialty and control cables, optical ground wires, and fiber-optic cables; cable accessories, joints, and terminations; oil-immersed and dry-type cast resin distribution and power transformers; busway trunking systems; electric motors; and high-voltage insulators. Its Engineering and Construction division delivers turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) solutions for thermal, solar, wind, and hydroelectric power generation plants; transmission grids and electrical substations; water treatment and desalination facilities; and transport and civil infrastructure. Through its Digital Solutions division, the company provides smart grid technologies, energy management systems, advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) for electricity, water, and gas, industrial automation, and data center infrastructure. Its Infrastructure Investments and Building Solutions divisions develop and manage master-planned industrial cities, logistics zones, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, and structural steel fabrications. Elsewedy Electric operates more than 30 production facilities across Egypt, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, and Europe, exporting products and delivering projects across more than 100 countries worldwide. The company caters to government utilities, commercial enterprises, industrial facilities, telecommunication operators, and independent power producers. Key operating subsidiaries and brands include Iskraemeco, Elsewedy Cables, Elsewedy Transformers, Elsewedy SEDCO, and Elsewedy Industrial Development. In recent corporate developments, Abu Dhabi-based Electra Investment Holding acquired an approximately 20% minority stake in Elsewedy Electric in 2024. The group has advanced its expansion strategy through strategic acquisitions, including a 60% controlling stake in Thomassen Service to strengthen gas turbine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities across the energy and oil and gas sectors, alongside a 67.8% majority stake in Elmasala for Manufacturing Cable Accessories to deepen its supply chain integration. In operational and manufacturing investments, the company commenced development of a $500 million subsea cable manufacturing facility at Damietta Port, signed a $2.5 billion framework agreement to establish an electrical manufacturing and renewable energy hub in Algeria, and committed $200 million toward new industrial circular economy and materials recycling facilities. The company also secured major infrastructure consortium contracts, including works on Egypt's High-Speed Rail Green Line and regional cross-border electrical interconnection grids.
