Business
Sanergy Group Limited (2459.HK), an investment holding company incorporated in 2018 and headquartered in Xinxiang, China, manufactures and sells ultra-high power graphite electrodes under the SANGRAF brand, ranking as the world's seventh-largest producer and China's fourth-largest maker of premium ultra-high power graphite electrodes; trades graphite electrodes and needle cokes; and produces graphite anode materials under the SANODE brand as Europe's leading manufacturer. The company operates production bases in China and plans facilities in Italy, serving the steel, energy storage, automotive, infrastructure, construction, appliance, machinery, equipment, and transportation industries across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the People's Republic of China, and the rest of Asia Pacific. As a subsidiary of Otautahi Capital Inc., it supports low-carbon transformation through reliable technology and products. In 2023, the group listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and acquired Taigu Assets, including buildings, production facilities, and intangible assets related to graphite electrodes for RMB80.5 million, though the vendor occupied the assets from March 2024, prompting arbitration in December 2024. Recent developments include the voluntary termination and dissolution of a joint venture with Huixian Construction Investment Holding Group Co., Ltd. due to market changes, expected to complete in the first quarter of 2025; a proposed 1-for-2 rights issue in July 2025 to raise up to HK$45.6 million for operations, business expansion, and liquidity; and a geographic sales reallocation boosting revenue shares from the PRC to 43.5% and the Americas in the first half of 2025, achieving a gross profit turnaround from a loss in the prior period.
