Business
Hubbell Incorporated designs, manufactures and sells electrical and utility solutions for non-residential and residential construction, industrial, utility and telecommunications applications worldwide; its core products and services span two primary segments including Utility Solutions offering transmission and distribution components such as insulators, connectors, surge arresters, substation equipment, grid automation and smart grid technologies, and Electrical Solutions providing wiring devices, rough-in electrical products, grounding products, lighting fixtures, controls, enclosures, hazardous location equipment, datacom connectivity and specialty communications equipment. The company, founded in 1888 by Harvey Hubbell II and headquartered in Shelton, Connecticut, generates the majority of its revenue in the United States through sales to distributors, wholesalers, electric utilities, OEMs, electrical contractors, telecommunications companies and retail outlets, with manufacturing facilities and operations across North America and select international locations. Hubbell recently completed its $825 million acquisition of DMC Power in October 2025, adding high-voltage connectors and tooling for utility substation and transmission markets along with two U.S. manufacturing plants and over 350 employees to bolster its Utility Solutions portfolio; prior moves include the 2024 acquisition of Systems Control for $1.1 billion to enhance grid automation, the 2021 divestiture of its Commercial and Industrial Lighting business for $350 million to sharpen focus on core segments, and the 2018 purchase of Aclara Technologies for $1.1 billion to expand into smart infrastructure solutions.
