Konecranes Plc manufactures, sells, and services material handling equipment worldwide, operating through three core segments: Service, Industrial Equipment, and Port Solutions; it serves industries including general manufacturing, metals production, power generation, automotive, pulp and paper, raw materials and chemicals, container handling, ports, and terminals. The Service segment delivers specialized maintenance, installation, repair services, and spare parts for all types of industrial cranes, hoists, electrified lift trucks, and container equipment; the Industrial Equipment segment supplies industrial cranes, wire rope hoists, chain hoists, workstation lifting systems, overhead cranes, low headroom hoists, electric chain hoists for hazardous environments, digital controls, software, and automation solutions; the Port Solutions segment provides container handling equipment such as ship-to-shore cranes, rubber-tired gantry cranes, mobile harbor cranes, straddle carriers, automated guided vehicles, automated stacking cranes, lift trucks, terminal operating systems, and related software and services. Founded in 1910 and headquartered in Hyvinkää, Finland, the company employs approximately 16,000 people across more than 600 locations in over 50 countries, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific. Recent developments include the 2024 acquisition of Rotterdam-based Peinemann Port Services BV and Peinemann Container Handling BV to strengthen its Port Solutions presence in Europe's largest port, expected to close in Q4 2024 and add over 100 employees and €40 million in annual turnover; the 2023 acquisition of Whiting Corporation's industrial and nuclear crane businesses to expand its North American footprint; leadership changes such as the appointment of Marko Tulokas as President and CEO and Jussi Rautiainen as President of Business Area Industrial Equipment; new product launches like the electric reach stacker in its Ecolifting portfolio and battery-powered rubber-tired gantry cranes; and major orders including a 200-crane service agreement with Meyer Turku Oy and four electric RTGs for a Slovenian seaport.
