- Lion Chemtech Co., Ltd. is a South Korea-based specialty chemical and advanced building materials manufacturer engaged in the development, production, and global commercialization of synthetic waxes and engineered surface solutions. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Daejeon, South Korea, the company operates primarily through two core business divisions: Synthetic Wax and Artificial Marble.
The Synthetic Wax division manufactures high-performance polyolefin additives and specialty polymer waxes, including low-molecular-weight polyethylene waxes under the LC-101N, LC-102N, LC-103N, and LC-108N series; polypropylene waxes under the L-C 501NC, L-C 502N, and L-C 503N series; oxidized polyolefin waxes; and custom-formulated functional wax products. These chemical agents serve as internal and external lubricants, pigment dispersing aids, processing additives, and rheology modifiers across multiple industrial sectors, including plastic masterbatch compounding, rubber processing, polyvinyl chloride extrusion, hot-melt adhesives, road marking paints, printing inks, toners, and paper coatings.
The Artificial Marble division produces architectural and interior surfacing materials, comprising pure acrylic solid surface sheets and shapes marketed under the TriStone and Grandex brand names, as well as engineered quartz surfacing solutions marketed under the Blackstone brand. These thermoformable, non-porous, and hygienic surfaces are supplied to commercial and residential construction sectors for applications such as kitchen countertops, bathroom vanities, commercial cladding, laboratory workstations, and healthcare facility furnishings. Additionally, the company develops functional polyolefin elastomer hot-melt adhesives and environmentally friendly polymer compounds.
Lion Chemtech maintains manufacturing facilities in Daejeon and supplies its product lines domestically within South Korea while exporting across global markets in North America, Europe, the Asia-Pacific region, and the Middle East.
In recent corporate developments, South Korea-based Taekyung Group acquired a controlling interest of approximately 56 percent in Lion Chemtech in December 2024 through its affiliates Taekyung BK Co., Ltd. and Taekyung Chemical Co., Ltd. for an estimated transaction value of 130 billion Korean won. Following the transaction, Kim Hong-jin was appointed as Chief Executive Officer to lead corporate integration and governance. Under Taekyung Group, Lion Chemtech has strategically refocused its operational priorities toward expanding international market share for premium, eco-friendly solid surface collections and accelerating the commercial scale-up of next-generation polyolefin elastomer adhesive materials.
