- Gulf Cables and Electrical Industries Group Co. (K.S.C.P.) is a Kuwait-based industrial manufacturing and investment holding enterprise primarily engaged in the design, manufacture, marketing, and distribution of electrical cables, telecommunication cables, and associated industrial products. Founded on March 15, 1975, and headquartered in the Sulaibiya Industrial Area of Kuwait City, Kuwait, the company operates as the primary domestic cable manufacturer in Kuwait, catering to governmental utility authorities, petrochemical and oil and gas complexes, civil and commercial infrastructure projects, renewable energy developments, and industrial contractors across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The group organizes its commercial activities into three principal business segments: Cable Manufacture, Investment, and Rendering Services. Its manufacturing portfolio encompasses low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) copper and aluminum power cables; control, signaling, and instrumentation cables; bare and insulated overhead transmission conductors, including all-aluminum conductors (AAC), all-aluminum alloy conductors (AAAC), and aluminum conductor steel-reinforced (ACSR) cables; low-smoke zero-halogen (LSZH) and flame-retardant safety cables; lead-sheathed cables engineered for hydrocarbon processing environments; solar photovoltaic (PV) cables for renewable power installations; multi-pair telephone and communication wiring; domestic building wires; and low-tension cable joints, terminations, and connection accessories. Through its auxiliary units, the company provides technical testing, application engineering advisory, cable laying support, contracting, and specialized industrial maintenance services.
Geographically, the group manages major manufacturing facilities in Kuwait and maintains a key manufacturing and distribution base in Jordan through its 94.5-percent-owned subsidiary, Gulf Cable and Multi Industries Co. JSC. The group also maintains operational and real estate interests through subsidiaries including Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Systems Co. W.L.L., Care for Buildings & Cities Cleaning Contracting Co. W.L.L., Sofer Real Estate Co. S.P.C., and Hawraa Regional General Trading and Contracting W.L.L.
In recent developments, the company executed a corporate restructuring and officially updated its commercial name to Gulf Cables and Electrical Industries Group Company (K.S.C.P.) to reflect its broadened operational remit spanning manufacturing, services, and strategic investments. To enter the high-voltage transmission segment, the group established a 50-50 joint venture, Gulf and Riyadh Electric Wires and Cables Co., in partnership with Riyadh Cables to manufacture and distribute high-voltage and extra-high-voltage power cables. The company has expanded its investment portfolio by securing substantial equity holdings in major listed entities, including an approximate 28.3 percent stake in Heavy Engineering Industries & Shipbuilding Co. (HEISCO) and an approximate 27 percent stake in National Investments Company (NIC), alongside regional industrial holdings such as Foulath Holding and United Steel Company (SULB). Operationally, the company continues to upgrade its technical capacity through the procurement and commissioning of new automated production lines to satisfy utility supply contracts with Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, complemented by executive leadership transitions including the appointment of Engineer Abdulrazaq Aldobayan as Acting Chief Executive Officer to direct ongoing operational expansion.
