Mitsubishi Electric Corporation manufactures and sells a broad range of electrical and electronic products and systems, including factory automation systems such as programmable controllers, inverters, servos, robots and human-machine interfaces; energy systems encompassing power generation, transmission and distribution equipment, medium- and low-voltage switchgear, nuclear systems and advanced metering infrastructure; building systems comprising elevators, escalators and monitoring solutions; air conditioning and home appliances like room and package air conditioners, variable refrigerant flow systems, refrigerators, air purifiers and dehumidifiers; automotive equipment including electrification products, advanced driver assistance systems and in-vehicle infotainment; visual information systems such as large-scale LED displays (Diamond Vision), projectors and printers; semiconductors and devices featuring power modules, sensors and high-frequency devices; transportation systems covering rolling stock, power supply and communication systems; space and defense systems including satellites and high-precision positioning receivers; and public utility systems like water treatment, uninterruptible power supplies and cybersecurity solutions. Headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and founded in 1921 as a spin-off from Mitsubishi Shipbuilding's electrical machinery division, the company operates globally across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and other regions through numerous subsidiaries and facilities. Recent developments include the completion of its acquisition of AG MELCO Elevator Co. L.L.C. in Dubai in November 2025 to bolster elevator maintenance and renewal in the Middle East, South Asia, Africa and Central Asia; a definitive agreement announced in September 2025 to acquire Nozomi Networks as a wholly owned subsidiary to enhance operational technology cybersecurity capabilities, building on prior collaboration since its 2024 funding round; and a February 2025 partnership with HD Renewable Energy to form a joint venture for distributed energy resources aggregation in Japan, including solar and battery storage, alongside a minority stake acquisition to explore corporate power purchase agreements.
