Business
Canatu Plc is a Finland-based advanced materials and nanotechnology company that develops and manufactures advanced carbon nanotube (CNT) components, membrane products, and deposition equipment for the semiconductor, automotive, and medical diagnostics industries. Founded in 2004 as a spin-off from Aalto University, the company is headquartered in Vantaa, Finland, and maintains commercial operations and client engagements across Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region, including key technology markets in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and the United States. The company operates across two principal commercial divisions: Semiconductor and Automotive & Medical. Canatu's core product and service portfolio comprises: extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and high-numerical-aperture (High-NA) EUV pellicle membranes, which act as ultra-thin, thermal-resistant protective barriers for semiconductor photomasks in leading-edge chip manufacturing; optical EUV and X-ray filters for semiconductor metrology, inspection, and debris filtering; transparent film heaters and de-icing/anti-fogging heating components engineered for automotive advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) cameras, LiDAR, and radar sensor windows; 3D formable capacitive touch sensors and smart surfaces for automotive cockpits and human-machine interface (HMI) applications; proprietary Direct Dry Printing (DDP) carbon nanotube synthesis and deposition equipment; and customized nanomaterial synthesis, prototyping, and volume manufacturing services for high-purity carbon nanotube applications. In recent corporate developments, Canatu completed a business combination with Lifeline SPAC I Plc in September 2024, resulting in the public listing of Canatu Plc on the Nasdaq First North Growth Market Finland under the ticker symbol CANATU. To support expanding commercialization, the company has completed major expansions of its cleanroom and automated production facilities at its Vantaa headquarters to scale the high-volume manufacturing of CNT pellicles for advanced semiconductor fabrication. In addition, Canatu has entered into strategic commercial partnerships and joint development programs with global semiconductor ecosystem leaders and Tier 1 automotive suppliers to integrate its optical membranes into next-generation lithography tools and deploy its transparent sensor heaters into serial-production autonomous and electric vehicles.
