- Glori Energy Inc. is an energy technology and oil production company primarily engaged in enhancing oil recovery for third-party exploration and production companies in North America and Brazil. The company operates through two main segments: Oil and Gas, which involves producing and developing oil and natural gas interests, and AERO Services, which offers biotechnology solutions for enhanced oil recovery. Its core product is the proprietary AERO™ (Activated Environment for Recovery of Oil) System, a two-step process involving reservoir analysis and screening, followed by deployment of skid-mounted injection equipment to stimulate indigenous microbial life within oil reservoirs, thereby significantly increasing oil extraction from mature fields without drilling new wells. Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, Glori Energy partners with independent oil producers to deploy its AERO System, which uses optimized water quality and nutrient mixtures to activate reservoir microbes to improve oil mobility and recover an additional 30-45% of oil beyond conventional methods such as waterflooding. The company's technology is touted as a low-cost, environmentally safer option to enhance production from declining oilfields, primarily focusing on conventional onshore oil fields. Recent major developments include continued advancements and commercialization efforts of the AERO technology, leveraging over 25 years of collaborative research and development, initially with Statoil and other industry partners. The company has strengthened its service offerings by working with a broad customer base that includes international and independent oil companies. While Glori Energy has divested some of its oil and gas assets in the past to reduce debt, it focuses strategically on expanding its biotechnology service segment to increase market penetration and operational footprint globally. Glori Energy's target market includes oil and gas exploration and production companies seeking to enhance recovery from existing reservoirs economically and efficiently. Its geographic operations extend primarily throughout North America and Brazil, with technology services offered internationally to licensed partners and clients. The firm employs around 11-50 people and remains publicly traded under the ticker GLRI. Overall, Glori Energy combines oil production with advanced biotechnology to provide innovative enhanced oil recovery solutions, driving sustainable increased oil production from mature fields globally. Its latest strategic focus is on optimizing and scaling the AERO System to grow its presence in the energy recovery technology market while maintaining operational efficiency and environmental responsibility.
